 The Kuentscher Society for intramedullary nailing began as an association of traumatologists who worked with Gerhard Kuentscher and was organized to continue his methods of fracture treatment using intramedullary nailing.
As President of the Kuentscher Society I am pleased to welcome you to our international group of bone nailing surgeons. It is our purpose to teach intermedullary nailing worldwide and continue the development of the methods, research and ideas of Prof. Gerhard Kuentscher.
Kuentscher worked in the Northern Part of Germany in and nearby Kiel, but he travelled worldwide showing the advantages of intramedullary osteosynthesis to improve the care of long bone fractures.
Today we offer an active website, annual meetings, focus courses, generous prizes, travel fellowships, and affiliation with the Journal INJURY for publications. Our meetings are not only lively and informative, they are also fun. Many innovations in intramedullary methods had their debut at our gatherings.
